Hello!
I’ve been thinking about what other types of content I want to share in this space, and I thought it might be fun to do a round-up at the end of each month capturing some favorites from the last 30 or so days. I love a good list (like any self-respecting Virgo), but this also acts as a gratitude practice of sorts — a chance to look back on the month and reflect on some of the things I appreciated most. And I would love to hear your favs as well!
So, let’s talk September…
Fav Eats:
Easy — I baked a chocolate lava cake for my husband’s birthday at the beginning of this month, and not only was it delicious, but the comments on the recipe were really entertaining. (Seriously though, it’s really easy to make, if you’re interested!)
Oh, and if you’re on the fall foods bandwagon (hi, I am), the butternut squash mac and cheese in the frozen foods section at Trader Joe’s was great! (And their pumpkin cinnamon rolls were surprisingly bad — save your money.)
Fav Listen:
This month, I have been really into the Hurdle podcast. I’ve been a casual listener for a while now, but something clicked for me recently and I have been finding many of the episodes really motivating and inspiring.
Fav Read:
This is probably a cop-out but my Sunday routine is (and has been for much longer than this specific month) reading the Sunday New York Times. I get it delivered, and I really enjoy leafing though a physical paper while drinking my coffee. (One of the only things I miss about my commute life when I lived in D.C. was the ability to read the paper while headed to work.) If you don’t currently have at least one publication (magazine, newspaper, whatever) that you read an actual hard-copy of once a week or so, trust me when I say it is good for your soul (and probably your eyes). 💛
Fav Watch:
Ooh, I am LOVING the Hulu show “Only Murders in the Building.” It’s a mystery and sort of goofy (it features Steve Martin and Martin Short…) but the writing is quite good. Also, I am not ashamed to admit I’m deeply entrenched in the Britney drama, so yep — watched and found very interesting the latest New York Times documentary on her conservatorship situation, called “Controlling Britney.” (This is a follow-up to their original documentary earlier in 2021, and also on Hulu.)
Unpopular opinion: I just could not get into “White Lotus.”
Fav Thing Bought:
A toss up between these jeans and these gold sandals, both of which are currently on sale. (Saw a friend wearing the latter over Labor Day weekend and literally ordered them that same night after we hung out — I’m obsessed.) P.S. the sandals run about a half size small.
++++
What would be on your list of favorites for this month? Let me know in the comments, and I hope you have a great Thursday.
Thanks for reading!
Joelle
