Hello!
How in the world is today already the last day of November? I feel like I blinked and November had come and gone, and I blinked again and the whole year is just about over. Is this what being an adult feels like? Time just zooming past you?
Anyways, here we are, end of the month, so let’s recap on some favorites!
Fav Eats:
At the beginning of the month, my husband and I went to New York City for a few days, so probably everything I ate there… specifically (in no particular order) the breakfast sandwich at Daily Provisions, pasta at Lilia (which I had been dying to go to for years, by the way), and pizza from Joe’s in the West Village.
Fav Listen:
Not to be literally the most basic person alive (although to be honest, I have zero shame about liking the things that I like, even if they are “basic”) but my favorite thing I listened to this month was without a doubt the 10-minute version of Taylor Swift’s song “All Too Well.” I have listened to it so many times since it came out mid-month, not to mention the entire, re-released album.
Fav Read:
I sailed through the thriller One of Us is Lying and then it’s sequel, One of Us is Next. Truly thrillers for people who don’t usually like thrillers or super scary stories. They were both suspenseful and interesting (though I liked the first one best of the series).
I also loved the article “First I Cried, Then I Rode My Bike” — about grief, and sport — from author Jennifer Weiner, and "You Can Make Any Day the Best Day of the Year" from journalist Lindsay Crouse about celebrating the ordinary.
Fav Watch:
Let me first warn you that I happen to love corny Christmas movies (from Hallmark, Lifetime, Netflix… anyone, really). Unsurprisingly, I also really enjoyed the Netflix movie “Love Hard” — corny, but not too corny (and actually, pretty good writing).
On a completely different note, part of this interview with actor Andrew Garfield on the Late Show really resonated with me, when he starts talking about grief and using his art to heal himself. (Right around minute 4:19, if you’re interested in watching.)
I also finished up season two of “The Morning Show,” which was almost difficult to sit through at times because it takes you through the start of the pandemic here in the U.S. (TOO SOON, folks), but gosh the acting is so solid. Definite trigger warning if you are feeling extremely anxious about Covid these days.
Fav Thing Bought:
Ooof. I really wanted to be the person who bought zero things during all the holiday sales this month, but alas…. I was not. I’m currently obsessed with this toner purchased during the big Sephora sale, this eye cream (so moisturizing!), and — speaking of basic — this velvet nap dress.
For the record, it really pains me to even say the words “nap dress” because TBH it’s just a ridiculous name (like it’s a dress, or it’s a NIGHTGOWN, this is not a new category), and I really did not want to like this, but…. I do. Ugh, I really do. I have no idea how many occasions I will be able to make an excuse to put on a velvet, nearly floor-length (because I’m super petite) dress, but hey — at least I can say I wore it for Thanksgiving?
++++
